Trying Something New

Our website is in a bit of disarray, but that’s OK. We’ve finally upgraded to WordPress after 10 years on Movable Type. It’s time to leave an outdated system and start making some needed upgrades and improvements around here.

We’re still figuring out exactly what those improvements are. But we’re looking forward to it.

For 10 years Monkey Outta Nowhere has been telling stories. It’s time we worked on telling our own story a little better.

Doing Your Own Thing

Working on your own stuff is hard. You’re so close to the material, it’s hard to have any perspective. You either think you know it all and end up communicating too much. Or it can be paralyzing. You know so much that you can’t decide where to start.

That blinking cursor has never been so intimidating.

This is often why organizations come to us. They need a skilled writer who can bring that outside perspective, someone who can translate their story for the right audience.

And now we’re turning that skill on ourselves, trying to avoid being paralyzed, trying to keep perspective and trying not drown in the details. It’s a good challenge.

Just Try It Out

Sometimes you just have to try. Even when you’re unsure what you’re doing or you don’t know if it’s going to work. The only way to find out is to try. Sometimes that’s how we make our greatest leaps and discover our greatest successes.

If your organization is going to tell a compelling story that connects with people, you have to start somewhere.

That’s what we’re trying with this in-process site. We’ll throw a few things against the wall and see what sticks. We might fail. And that’s OK. We hope it’s an inspiration for you.

Telling your story is never easy. But you have to start somewhere.
