Say Hello to Our Intern

Kevin D. Hendricks and Juan Miguel Adams

We’re proud to announce this summer’s intern, Juan Miguel Adams. He’ll be a senior at St. Paul Academy and Summit School this fall and will focus on honing his journalism skills with the West St. Paul Reader.

“At its core, journalism brings important stories to the public eye,” Adams said. “I’m excited to work with the West St. Paul area to inform and share stories within the community.”

  • When: The 10-week paid internship will run through August.
  • Who: Adams is a new contributor who started with the Two Rivers girls’ flag football story. At school, Adams is the managing editor of the school paper, The Rubicon. He also participated in the Capital Reporting Workshop with ThreeSixty Journalism, writing a story on Medicaid cuts.
  • What: Adams will help with story writing and editing, covering City Council, and all the things that go into running a news site, including story ideas, social media, email newsletters, events, and more. We’ll also do professional development work to help Adams as he looks ahead to a career, meeting with industry pros, reading books, and more.
  • How: We’re able to hire interns thanks to member support. Last fall our member drive to expand student opportunities brought in 41 new members. Unfortunately, we came nine members short of our 50-member goal. But we hired an intern anyway. Join now to help us close the gap and support students like Adams.
