Reinterpreting Star Wars: R2-D2 & Chewbacca the Heroes

January 14th, 2007 Posted in Saturday Matinee

I love this article: A New Sith, or Revenge of the Hope.

Based on the info from the Star Wars prequels, we need to reinterpret the originals and it appears as though R2-D2 and Chewbacca are incredible Rebel spies. I also love the part about everyone being freaked out about Luke and Leia.

That was a fun read and most of it makes sense, but I’ve always thought that Han Solo and Chewbacca were together because Chewbacca ended up enslaved and Han Solo somehow freed him. I’m not sure where that comes from, though. I know there were some Han Solo paperbacks written years and years ago, but I never read them. And other than the novelizations of the movies, I don’t know if Lucas considers any of the “expanded universe” stories to be part of the official Star Wars canon.
