Bono: In Conversation by Assayas, Michka

Filed under: Pop Culture | Buy on Amazon

It's the perfect memoir for a rock star. Rather than sitting down and actually writing a book (or paying a ghost writer), Bono just talked. It seems very fitting for the talkative Bono.

In short, Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas is exactly that. Every chapter is a different conversation he had with his longtime friend, Assayas. It's like reading a 323-page Q&A. Which means you need to be a Bono fanatic. And if you are, you'll find plenty to digest. Bono talks at length about all kinds of issues, from music to war to Africa to debt to Elvis to God to AIDS to his father to business (and back to Africa).

It's ideal for the U2 fan who wants to dive into Bono's head, but the casual fan will yearn for some narrative flow.
