Mindy Smith on Mourning
"We're allowed to mourn as long as we want to. I think people get confused in thinking that they have to get over it or that somebody's holding on to something for too long. I don't agree with that. I think everybody's entitled to be sad about something or rejoice about something that they miss in somebody or -- there's so many things. I think it's really out of line for somebody to say, 'Well, you need to get over it.' Unless it's totally disrupting somebody's life, I don't see it as a problem. If you want to hold on to somebody until the day you die, hold on. That's fine."
-Mindy Smith, who recently released her debut album, One Moment More. (Source: NPR's Morning Edition, January 29, 2004)

Brittany Murphy on Her Mom's Battle with Cancer
"I learned a lot about medical stuff, and faith, and the power of prayer, and a lot about how strong my mom is. She's the strongest person I've ever met. ... I don't know what I would be like if I hadn't gone through that. I thank God for it. Everybody has difficult years, but a lot of times the difficult years end up being the greatest years of your whole entire life, if you survive them."
-Brittany Murphy, who starred in 8 Mile with Eminem, talking about her mom's struggle with cancer. (Source: Seventeen, September 2003)
