Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst on God
(Filed under: Spirituality)“You don’t want it to be a completely cold reality. You want life to make sense. I believe in God. I just don’t know if it’s a personal thing, where it’s a God who gives a shit about me. But it has to go beyond this.”
-Conor Oberst, frontman for Bright Eyes, who just released their latest CD, I'm Wide Awake It's Morning. (Source: Rolling Stone, January 27, 2005)

Conor's lyrics are incredibile. I love the songs, and appreciate them to an infinite extent. All his songs are great, but I think people didn't appreciate "Lover I Don't Have To Love" as much as it shoud've been. People, mostly preteen girls, saw it as yet another song to bop their head to and sing along with. I must admit, I was against seeing Conor's "First Day of My Life" as being the #1 video on MTV; I cringe when I see 12 year old girls "whored" out with Bright Eyes merch and commenting on how hot he is and only focused on "Lover I Don't Have To Love." I just miss the good old days when shows weren't sold out and you couldn't find Bright Eyes albums at the local mega mart.

Hmm to jacky who commented above. Even though shes probably not gonna see this..well for those of you who are still curious to what song it is. It's "When The Curious Girl Realizes She Is Under Glass."
Anyways ^^; I love your music Conor. I mean...at first I think I heard "First Day Of My Life" it was good and all, but the one song that I ended up really loving was "Ship In A Bottle" >
well I'm out.

Darn..it cut off half my comment.
Well I have about 5 of your albums and I can't keep track over the ones I really love. So I just pop in one of the cd's and listen to it all.

I personally think that conor's last two albums are not even close to the masterpiece of Lifted... and Fevers and Mirrors. Although, those two albums are still absolutely magnificent, i really hope conor makes the godly music he used to.Thank you

Hi my name is mya and
YOU are my hero & it's not even that i think you are 'hot' or your voice is 'cute'.
You can not EVER imagine how much your music touches me in ways where no other band can.
I get butterflies and listening to the lyrics touch me even more.
You pretty much save me from teenage bullshit&my family going crazy on me.
I own all your albums. I listen to them everyday.
&when you come to Illinois, I'll be the girl in the from smiling. After that, I'll never have to go to another show because nothing will compare.
thank you so much.
You give me faith in this heartless world.
And I really appreciate it.
god bless.
