Mandy Moore on Success

"I don't really care whether or not my new album is a hit. OK, I know that sounds crazy, but here's what I mean: My new album, Coverage, is the first album I've done that I'm completely in love with, and that's what's important to me -- not selling 5 million copies and becoming a huge celebrity."

Britney Spears Not a Sex Object

"The record label wanted me to do certain kinds of songs, and I was like, 'Look, if you want me to be some kind of sex thing, that's not me. I will never do that. I'm still doing what I love to do."

-Britney Spears, telling Esquire magazine that she's not a sex object, despite the revealing Esquire photoshoot, which Spears later expressed regret over. All the naked hype is part of In the Zone, the new Spears album that releases next week. (Source: MSNBC, October 9, 2003)

Mandy Moore on Britney Spearses

"The Britney Spearses of the world always exuded confidence, but I was like, 'I'm so unlike them. I could never do that.' If I went to an award show wearing just a bra and sequined pants, I'd flip out."

Britney Spears Over-Exposed

"I did feel kind of weird after those photos. I was in a moment. I had, like, eight Red Bulls and said, 'OK, let's do it.' I learned my lesson and you won't see me like that for a while. I'm kinda over it myself. Not that it's dirty or tacky, but it is really revealing and I wouldn't want my kid, at 21, to be dressing like that."

-Britney Spears, expressing regret over a revealing Esquire photoshoot, despite a later Q magazine cover that's just as revealing. All the naked hype is part of In the Zone, the new Spears album that releases next week. (Source: Newsweek, November 3, 2003)

Mandy Moore Gets Boobs

"When I started out, I was uncomfortable showing off my body at a time when a lot of other girls were comfortable with it and went for it. No matter how much pressure was there was to have this image that wasn't me, I just couldn't do it. And there was pressure -- I mean, do you know how weird it is to have a reporter ask you if you're a virgin when you're 15-years-old? There's no point in answering that and broadcasting that to everyone! And now that I'm 19, it's still nobody's business. I will say, though, that I'm really enjoying being a woman. Just eight months ago, I got boobs! Who knows where they came from. When I wear a push-up bra, they're out of control. I'm probably 15 pounds heavier than I was four years ago; I even have hips now! So I'll do sexier photo shoots than I used to do, because I've grown into my skin."
