During the summer of 2000 Head Monkey Kevin D. Hendricks worked with the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, a division of the National Park Service in the Twin Cities, to develop a trail guide for the trails along the Mississippi River. He hit the trails and wrote all the copy for the guide, and also contributed to the design and layout decisions. The trail guide has been reprinted three times for a total distribution of 122,000.
In 2005 the National Park Service contacted Monkey Outta Nowhere to help expand and revise the trail guide. Our Head Monkey hit the trails again to confirm the five year old trail notes, note changes and cover the three new segments added north of Minneapolis. The guide is being designed and printed in the spring of 2006 for expected release in the summer.
