Romantica Video for "Mexico"

Check out the video "Mexico" from Minneapolis band Romantica (go to Sonicbids and click video). There's nothing incredibly amazing about the video, but it is weird to see a few guys you know in a professional music video. I went to college with the lead singer, Ben Kyle, and the bass player, Luke Jacobs.

While the music video may not be incredibly amazing (not many videos are), Romantica's music itself might be. Check out their 2004 debut It's Your Weakness That I Want.

OK Go's "A Million Ways" Dance Video

A Million Ways video by OK GoThe goofy dance video for "A Million Ways" by the band OK Go was never really meant to be released publicly, but now it's everywhere. NPR talked with the band's singer, Damian Kulash, and the choreographer, his sister Trish Sie. The video was filmed in their backyard and intended to be used as a video piece for the closing of their concerts. They also passed out DVDs to fans and it eventually found its way to the Internet.

NPR has the video and you can also check out their latest album, Oh No, which conveniently came out this week.

Live 8 On Demand

Watch performances from last weekend's Live 8 concerts on demand. You can skip to just the songs you want to see. Check out the artists lists for London, Philadelphia and Toronto, including U2, Coldplay, The Who, R.E.M., The Killers, Jars of Clay, Dave Matthews Band, Will Smith, Jet, Black Eyed Peas and more.

Or check out Berlin, Paris and Rome for artists including Green Day, Shakira and more (just not as many cool names in those cities, huh?).

AOL also presents some concert highlights, but it's nothing but the really big names. And, unfortunately, it doesn't play in Firefox.

Watch Live 8

You'd have to be living under a rock not to hear about Live 8, the benefit concerts happening all over the world today to draw attention to next week's G8 Summit and the opportunity to bring justice to the world's poor.

You can watch Live 8 live on AOL (and you don't need AOL).

You can also tune into MTV or VH1, and tonight ABC will be airing portions of the concerts.

Update: Now you can buy the Paul McCartney and U2 performance of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" on iTunes, with benefits going to Live 8.

Toby Mac in HD

You can catch the genre-defying Christian hip-hopster Toby Mac in high-definition video, singing his decidely not hip-hop hit "Gone" from his Welcome to Diverse City album. The HD videos are widescreen and huge, the Toby Mac video coming in at 164 MB and a 1280x720 resolution. You'll need the latest version of Quicktime to take it in.

Toby Mac is the former frontman for the mega group dc Talk, which is still hailed for its 1995 Jesus Freak album, even though the band went on permanent hiatus after 1998's Supernatural (does the greatest hits album really count?). All three members have been exploring solo projects since. Despite its decade-old status, Jesus Freak is still a favorite in my church's youth group.
