Someone Tell Sam Jackson He's My Bro
Check out this video parody of U2's "Sometimes I Can't Make It On My Own" done as "Someone Tell Sam Jackson He's My Bro," complete with loads of snakes on a plane references. Hilarious.

Napoleon Dynamite Promotes the Utah State Fair
The Utah State Fair: All Your Wildest Dreams Will Come True.
Sound familiar? That's right, Napoleon and Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite are shilling for the 150th Utah State Fair (I guess the Idaho State Fair couldn't afford them).
The series features three TV commercials (watch for Napoleon's Totzilla in TV spot 3) and five radio spots (check out radio spot 3 to hear Napoleon try to pronounce "sesquicentennial" and radio spot 5 for probably the best poem he ever did). Just click on "Napoleon's Sweet Ads" at the bottom of the main menu.
For more on Napoleon, check out liger popularity, Taming the Liger and the Microsoft video featuring Bill Gates and Napoleon Dynamite.
Update: Read about the making of the Utah State Fair ads and their runaway success.

Napoleon Dynamite & Liger Popularity Surges
Both ligers and Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder have seen a surge in popularity thanks to the indie movie. Ligers are in fact real animals; they're a cross between male lions and female tigers (though the magical powers are, sadly, a myth). While accredited zoos don't breed them, many wild animal parks do, and they've been rather popular lately.
Meanwhile Heder, who had his breakout role as Napoleon, has six movies lined up where he continues to play outcasts. He also hasn't ruled out a return to Napoleon:
"I think it would be fun to do, but it's just gotta be done right, I guess," he continued. "Nothing is written down yet, but I don't know. We'll see what happens. It's been more, like, joked about, but we have no idea."Heder added that he's not afraid about being typecast as "the nerd."
"I don't mind. It's fun playing a dorky guy — or someone ugly," Heder said. "It's easy playing someone ugly and eccentric."

Wil Wheaton Interview
Wil Wheaton, the author of Just a Geek and Dancing Barefoot, and best known as Wesley Crusher from Star Trek the Next Generation, answered a few questions in a Slashdot interview.
While I don't usually read Wheaton's blog, I do like his style. He's not a pretentious actor and speaks pretty freely about what it's really like trying to get acting jobs.

The Cost of Being Batman
Forbes magazine estimates the real world wealth of Batman's alter ego, Bruce Wayne, giving him a net worth of $6.3 billion, making him the world's 28th richest person. But you don't need that much cash to be a superhero. They estimate the cost of being a superhero like Batman at a cool $3.4 million.
Dave Hunt wonders if Bill Gates could be a clever civilian disguise for a moonlighting superhero.
For more on Batman, check out 40 Things You Must Know About Batman, loaded with facts and trivia from the entire history of the series, from early comic books to campy 60s TV show, to the 90s franchise, the animated series and the latest revival.

The balcony hecklers, Statler & Waldorf from The Muppets have turned Ebert & Roeper. The two muppets are reviewing movies for Movies.com. The premiere episode includes reviews of War of the Worlds and Bewitched and a special visit by Pepe the King Prawn.
[Of course I can't the video to play right now. Not sure if it's a general problem or a Mac-specific issue.]

Creepiest Cable Access Show Ever
The Junior Christian Science Bible Lesson Show. An alien puppet poorly lip synching to bad music on a creepy set with some of the worst wipes and special effects ever. Wow.
And it just keeps going.
If you watch long enough, "Chip the Black Boy" leads a responsive reading from the book of Enoch. Yikes.

Lego Star Wars: Revenge of the Brick
Lego is getting in on the Star Wars act with Revenge of the Brick, a short online Star Wars film featuring the toy bricks. Mostly it's a bunch of corny gags, though the best is when Obi Wan uses the force to disassemble and reassemble his Lego starfighter to avoid a missile.
Mostly it's just a promotion for the Lego Star Wars video game. (link via Dave Hunt)

Darth Vader Blogs
Blogs have crossed over to the dark side. Check out The Darth Side, the blog Darth Vader himself. This was my favorite bit when Vader recounts a meal he shared with Boba Fett:
"I did my famous corpse of Mace Windu imitation, which made Fett snort wine through his nose. "This party's over," I quipped, and Fett howled. Long ago Windu was First Speaker of the Jedi High Council, a fierce warrior who slew Boba's father and tried to kill my master. In vain, of course. These days the Emperor uses Windu's purple light-sabre to trim his hedges."

Update: The Darth Vader blog wrapped up just before the release of Revenge of the Sith, bringing the story of Darth Vader to the middle of Return of the Jedi (it's kind of hard to fit a blog entry in between disposing of the Emperor and your own funeral pyre). Now that the blog is over, you can read it chronologically in either HTML or PDF. (link via Dave Hunt)
