Dear Raed
During the second Gulf War a blog emerged written by an English-speaking resident of Baghdad. Going by the moniker Salam Pax, he described life in war-time Iraq from a fresh perspective.
The media eventually jumped on the bandwagon, and Salam Pax stories were everywhere. The Guardian began running Pax columns and Pax even has his own book, Salam Pax: The Clandestine Diary of an Ordinary Iraqi.

Command-Post.org
A "newsblog" that collects the latest news from all over the world on Iraq, Terrorism, the 2004 Election, and North Korea/Iran/World Hot Spots. The site exploded during the second gulf war when their news mining would often deliver breaking stories hours before CNN. During the height of the war the site was updated every few minutes.
